A lot of people are getting into the habit of going to the gym to burn off those extra calories, but it’s really not that effective. What you really have to do is set a goal; make sure it’s something that has a clear-cut finish. The following are a couple of tips on how to maintain a healthy exercise program.
1. Track your calorie intake
You can do this by writing down the number of calories you consume in a day, including snacks and whatnot. You can also calculate the amount of calories you can put away in a week. If your goal is to lose weight, it’s best that you try to cut your daily caloric intake by 500 calories to 1,000 calories. However, if you’re trying to gain or maintain weight, then cut it by no more than 200-300 calories per day.
2. Keep a log of your workouts
It’s also a good idea to write down the number of calories that you’ve burned. This is especially crucial if you’re trying to lose weight, since it will help you determine whether or not you’re doing something right or wrong. You can do this by getting an exercise bike workout journal and writing down how many calories you burn every time you work out.
3. Choose an exercise activity that you’re comfortable with
For a lot of people, it’s best that they do some sort of exercise that is fun rather than one that they have to force themselves to do. You can try different kinds of exercises until you find something that you’re truly passionate about. However, some popular exercises include running, biking, playing basketball, tennis and swimming. It’s also best if you can just spend an hour or so everyday doing whatever activity it is that you’ve opted for.
4. Exercising in a group is better
Even though you might be working out twice as much when you’re doing it alone, it’s always a good idea to join a fitness center. The following are the benefits of joining a gym:
– You’ll be motivated to work out by setting goals.
– You’ll have someone to work with, which will make you progress faster.
5. You can also join an exercise program
There are numerous exercise programs out there that you can join. You might even want to consider just joining a few and rotating them to avoid overtraining. However, there are a couple of popular ones that you might want to consider joining.
